First Saturday Lime...
IS a natural mineral derived from limestone
We proudly offer it as a pesticide alternative but our formula of limestone or “milk-of-lime”, also known as, Precipitated Calcium Carbonate has many uses and is used around the world.
is NOT a pesticide
First Saturday Lime is formally classified as a mineral, or limestone and do not add chemicals or toxins of any kind. We have taken the extra step to test our formula. Check out the results on our MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) by clicking here.
is a PROTECTION against pests including
Our product can be used on any insects with an exoskeleton. This includes but not limited to ants, fleas, ticks, mites, lice, aphids, beetles, etc. It also can be used to prevent mosquito growth in water troughs and ponds. Also, many bee farms use our product to prevent small hive beetles.
is NOT a sterilizer
Calcium Carbonate does not kill bacteria or fungi – it works by reducing moisture and pH levels associated with the growth of potentially dangerous microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, etc.). Ultimately, First Saturday lime helps avoid conditions that attract dangerous pests and disease.
is NOT "food-grade" or intended for direct consumption
In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration has affirmed calcium carbonate to be GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). For ethical reasons, we have purposefully avoided testing First Saturday Lime on animals or humans. As a result, our formula is not “food-grade” or intended for consumption. We realize that animals may ingest some if they have it in their water – and as anecdotal evidence and the FDA supports, in small amounts, this is okay. However, we wouldn’t recommend leaving a bowl of it out to be eaten. There are years of anecdotal evidence that supports this practice. We’ve taken the extra step to get our lime tested to ensure we exceed purity requirements to deliver the most effective lime that’s safe for your family, gardens, ponds, pets and animals. You can review the results anytime via our MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) by clicking here.
